Finding the Scientist Within: Exploring Your Science Identity

Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 8:00 PM until 8:50 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

Facilitated by Dr. Charles Lu

Research has shown that students’ views of themselves as scientists or “science people” evolve substantially during their college experience.  Moreover, the first year is a pivotal year for students to develop strong science identities.  In this mini workshop, students will learn the major components of science identity, including how it is influenced by faculty, staff, peers, and family.  In addition, we will discuss how these components interact with other parts of your identity (e.g., religion, gender, race, etc.).
